So much fun!
October 11, 2025by: Christian Cheng - United StatesProgram: SIT Study Abroad: Vietnam: Culture, Social Change & Dev.Coming into this program, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. However, it very quickly became one of the most fun and immersive experiences of my life. The people you meet and the places you visit are truly one of a kind. There is simply so much to experience and enjoy, from field trips to Mui Ne and Dalat, to extensive food exploration--no matter when or where. You will love your host family, and they will love you--as long as you eat all their food, and gain the required 20 kilos by the end of the program. Food aside, you will be learning so much about Vietnamese culture and language through a variety of in class-and out of class activities. There is no shortage of immersion on this program, and the amazing staff and faculty of SIT will guide you through your journey each step of the way. This is truly a special program, and an opportunity to definitely be capitalized on. Also, shoutout to my buddy and soccer star Jun Reiss: thanks for all the memories!!
An Experiential Summer in Madagascar
September 16, 2025by: Nimotalai Afolabi - United StatesProgram: SIT Study Abroad: Madagascar: Traditional MedicineMy trip to Madagascar was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It was challenging, rewarding and fulfilling all at the same time. Unlike other study abroad programs, your time spent in Madagascar will be extremely immersive, and nothing like the usual European study abroad trip your university prepares you for. We travel to different parts of the country, such as rural and more urban/modernized areas so prepare yourself accordingly. There are large scheduled shifts and dietary changes, so ask for help and support in whatever areas you need. Despite all of the challenges I experienced on this trip, it is an enlightening one where you get to have direct contact with the locals to broaden your understanding of traditional medicine, colonial history and cultural legacies. Prepare yourself to learn Malagasy, experience an "African winter" and see Madagascar's rich biodiversity.

EPIC & AWESOME
August 27, 2025by: Bea Cunard - United StatesProgram: SIT Study Abroad: Argentina: People, Environment, & ClimateThis program was incredible! Not only are you traveling to some of the most beautiful and unique ecosystems, you also get to experience them with a deeper understanding of the environmental and social issues at play. This course felt like a great balance of classroom academics, hands on experiences, and also the individual freedom to explore what interests you. It also is an excellent way to become more confident in your Spanish and your skills at adapting to new cultures, especially with the amazing experience of living with a host family. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves the outdoors, adventuring, and trying new things!

I decided to apply to an international program so that I could gain a perspective totally different from what I had grown up with. The world is so vast and has limitless opportunities so I knew that I needed to dip my toe into this pool of opportunity. Gettysburg College, along with different schools across the nation, offer the incredible opportunity to go beyond your personal borders and live in a place that most people only dream of going to.

I have always loved traveling. Once I saw that this program was an option for me, there was no way I could pass it up. I had never been overseas before, and this was a chance to study a topic I'm passionate about. I knew that this would be an amazing and life changing experience that would be a crime to let go to waste.

I was inspired to go abroad because I was seeking a life-changing experience that would somehow enlighten me with new career aspirations. Naively enough, I was fully expecting that at some point in my time abroad the lightbulb above my head would light up and tell me what my path should be in life. While this didn't necessarily happen, I was hopeful nonetheless.
