Growing as an Educator Through Global Perspectives
October 26, 2025by: Marizaan van der linde - South AfricaProgram: B.Ed, M.Ed and Professional Doctoral in EducationMy experience abroad was an eye-opening journey that deeply shaped my approach to teaching. I had the opportunity to observe and participate in classrooms with diverse cultural and educational practices. This allowed me to understand different learning styles, teaching methods, and the importance of adapting lessons to meet students’ individual needs. Beyond academics, I learned how education can bridge cultures and build mutual respect. Living and studying in a new environment helped me grow both personally and professionally, improving my communication skills, cultural awareness, and confidence as a future educator. I’m excited to bring these experiences into my own classroom and inspire students to think globally.

I had the pleasure of reflecting on a 28 year career
October 14, 2025by: sophia isidore -joseph - St. LuciaProgram: B.Ed, M.Ed and Professional Doctoral in EducationDuring the course it caused me to do have a clearer understanding of how the school is to be managed. Part of the management is discipline in the workplace and critical evaluation of issues faced in the school. Additionally, there needs to be a comprehensive view of curriculum and instruction, handling of crisis , evaluating teachers and teaching ,and lastly , the technical aspects of management. The course Masters of Art in Education and Administration has been one that has caused me to reflect on best practices and come up with solutions to improve on areas that are lacking.

My level of knowledge in certain aspects increased and I also gained some new knowledge about others. I am now better equipped to deal with certain situations both in my teaching environment and surroundings. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn with you.

My life back home in the United States was beautiful. I had a stable career, great pay, benefits, my own apartment near the beach. I had ascertained my independent lifestyle in sunny Southern California, but deep down inside my heart and soul I needed something more. I required substance and depth, culture and adventure. I needed to go abroad and see the world. I sold my awesome Chevy Tahoe, gave up my apartment, quite my job, and purchased a one way ticket overseas.

I am the most active person when it comes to culture. I love learning about new cultures and travelling is my passion. While travelling the only thing which can give me satisfaction is teaching. So yes, teaching and travelling along with cultural exchange is what I see myself doing for the rest of my life and that's what inspired me to go abroad.
